The Novel House Team
The Novel House opened its doors in October 2026. Founded by experienced booksellers, we're an enthusiastic and knowledgeable team who are passionate about offering a personal customer experience to find the right book for the right person.

Joanna
I'm the proud owner of The Novel House! I've always been a voracious reader and to be surrounded by books all day is a dream come true. Luckily I really like spreadsheets too, as there are a lot of those involved in the day-to-day running of the shop!
My favourite genre to read is contemporary fiction, although I'm known to dabble in historical fiction, children's novels, and feminist non-fiction. Outside of bookselling I love baking, knitting and trampolining (although not all at once!)

I have been a bookseller for three years but have read for as long as I can remember. There are two types of reader, one who takes great care of their books with a cushioned case and another who stuffs the book in a bag which ends up dog-eared and covered in coffee. I am definitely the latter! (All my books are well loved). My love is fantasy and science fiction but I also enjoy a good crime thriller. I am also a self-confessed stationery addict and have lots of journals partially written and doodled in.

Megan
I have had the joy of being an independent bookseller for nearly 5 years and nothing quite beats the feeling of connecting someone with a new favourite read. I love character driven contemporary novels (especially if they make me cry!) but also enjoy memoirs, poetry and children’s books too. When I’m not curled up with a book you’ll often find me baking, crocheting, gardening or being a bakery/bookshop tourist.
Katie
I am a lifelong bookworm and proud member of the late-night readers club. My favourite genres are romance, romantasy, with a little bit of crime and fiction thrown in the mix. I am also passionate about children’s books as I am currently raising the next generation of bookworms. I have been a bookseller for a year now and I love helping people grow their own reading pile, because you can never have too many books!
Outside of work you will find me thriving/surviving in the chaos of motherhood and family life until about 7pm when I can FINALLY snuggle down with a book, crochet, and binge watch a new crime series with my husband.

Colin
I have been reading books since before I can remember, and I have definitely read more books than I can remember! Reading has been my favourite hobby since I was a child, when I more or less lived in the local library and was always the child, like Matilda, campaigning to be allowed to take out more books than the legal limit. I love sci fi, fantasy, horror, thrillers and regularly return to children's classics. I have read The Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper and every Discworld book an embarrassing number of times. Ask me about books or dogs and I will be happy!
Pippa
The official bookshop dog! Pippa loves snacks and meeting new people (especially children!) She is gradually learning her alphabet, but her strengths are more in cuddles than carrying books. She can often be found snoozing in a sunny spot and can hear a crisp packet opening from 20 metres away.
